How many layoffs is Enterprise Rent a Car planning on making?
KSDK — Enterprise Rent-A-Car is laying off 200 employees, the company’s first mass layoffs in its 51-year history. The layoffs are effective today, according to Christie Conrad, Assistant Vice President of Public Relations for Enterprise. She blamed the slumping economy for the cuts. 165 employees were released from the IT division and others were let go from the company’s Clayton headquarters. Conrad said the number of employees let go was equal between the company’s Weldon Spring and Clayton offices. More than 4,000 people work for Enterprise in the St. Louis region, with 70,000 worldwide. In June 2008, Enterprise placed 49th on the list of Most Respected Companies in the United States by the Reputation Institute.
