The PJ has 3 direct channels which can be used for microphones. The 3rd Channel was designed with higher gain and was meant to be used with a microphone. You can use a mic with either an XLR plug (or) a 1/4″ plug. Either will work on that one particular channel. The XLR plug is NON PHANTOM powered.
