How many outer walls did dover castle have between the years 1000 and 1485?
I think it only has one outer wall and one inner wall currently, the previous castle probably had one wall, there are unusual earthworks dotted around the caslte tho but they dont look like previous walls. ‘Henry II to early modern times It was during the reign of Henry II that the castle began to take recognisable shape. The inner and outer baileys and the great Keep belong to this time. Maurice the Engineer was responsible for building the keep.[5] The keep was one of the last rectangular keeps ever built.
