Daisies, for the most part are classified in plant family Asteraceae. The daisy flowers is a composite of many small flowers tightly held on what is known as a head. In the middle of the daisy is a group of very small flowers which may be without petals or have small petals that are sometimes tubular. This is the daisy “eye” and the tiny flowers are called disk flowers. There may be a few to hundreds of disk flowers in one daisy head. The outer ring of flowers sometimes bears one or several showy petals. These are known as ray flowers there are sometimes no ray petals, but most often there are between 5 and 300 or more ray petals per head depending on species and variety. So a daisy may have no true petals or more than 300 petals.
