How many subscribers can Maryland Decisions expect?
The potential exists for perhaps 2,000 subscribers among attorneys, law offices, judges, libraries, and law schools in Maryland (and DC). According to the MSBA, there are 28,000 attorneys in Maryland. According to the ABA, 1/2 to 1/3 of all attorneys are in solo or small firms, which means approximately 14,000 solo or small firms in Maryland, if this figure holds. If the remaining 14,000 Maryland attorneys are in large firms, that figure represents perhaps an additional 1,400 “addresses” (allowing 10 attorneys per such firm, as a baseline). The service adds another 600 in potential subscriptions from judges/courts, law libraries, and law schools, for a grand total Maryland subscription “field” of perhaps 16,000. Using these figures, a possible subscription potential of 2,000, is 12% of that 16,000 figure.
