“Sales are definitely more brisk today than they have been over the past few days,” DeMarco said. The largest Mega Millions jackpot won in history was $390 million, which was won by ticket holders in Georgia and New Jersey on March 6, 2007. The second largest was $330 million, which was won by Maryland, New Jersey, Texas and Virginia just five months later on Aug. 31, 2007. Both times, the New Jersey winners purchased their tickets in Cape May County, according to DeMarco. The Mega Millions game hasn’t seen a grand-prize winner since July 7. Since then, DeMarco said over $60 million worth in tickets has been sold. Sources: http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2009/08/mega_millions_lottery_numbers_1.
