How much and how often should I feed my Rottweiler puppy?
If your pup ‘inhales’ her food and is still hungry after each meal then (providing she’s been regularly dewormed and you’re sure she’s healthy) she isn’t getting enough food. I’m not sure what she weighs but a 16 week old Rottie is a BIG puppy, and 1 3/4 cups a day isn’t a lot of food for a big pup like that. Some pups do tend to be ‘chow hounds’ but at this age it’s rare for a pup to eat until she’s sick or to grossly overfeed herself. Give her as much as she wants to eat, and I think you could go down to feeding her twice a day now, morning and evening. For the first day or so she may seem ravenous, but after that it should settle down. Pups go through phases and stages and appetite is affected as well as other things. Some weeks she may seem starving all the time, others she will lose her appetite. This is often related to periods of growth spurts and so on and is perfectly normal as long as she is happy, healthy and active otherwise. It’s important not to overfeed these large breed
