Pet stores, for what they offer, are generally much higher in price than what you would pay a hobby breeder for a chinchilla. For instance, they charge $130.00 for a pet quality standard and you can get that from most hobbyists for $50.00. If you want a better quality chinchilla, as in for breeding, then you are going to pay more. You can pay anywhere from $100.00 on up to $500.00 depending on who it’s from, if it has placed at shows, and what it’s particular mutation is.
