How much can we charge Medicare patients for “missed” visits?
Physicians and suppliers are allowed to charge Medicare patients for missed appointments, provided that they do not discriminate against Medicare patients, but also charge non-Medicare patients for missed appointments. The amount the physician or supplier charges for missed appointments must apply and be the same amount for both Medicare and non-Medicare patients. The amount is determined by the physician or supplier. Charges for missed appointments should not be billed to Medicare.
