Expenses for blood operations/the blood program in fiscal year 2005/2006 were $396.3 million. The cost for the blood program includes salaries, medical supplies, clinic costs, travel expenses, administrative services, professional fees, other purchased services, property expenses, equipment and additional miscellaneous expenses. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2006, the cost of plasma protein products shipped to hospitals totalled $387.1 million. The cost of Recombinant Factor VIII was $117.9 million, down $3.4 million (2.8%) from the previous fiscal year. This decrease includes $7.3 million related to price reduction offset by $3.9 million related to volume. The cost of IVIG was $136.4 million, up $3.3 million (2.5%) from the previous year. This overall increase in the IVIG group reflects price reductions of $6.5 million offset by an increase of $9.8 million related to volume.
