In Phoenix Arizona my general contractor has allocated 10% of the total bid ($53,000) $5,300 for his fee plus $60.00 an hour ($7,000) for a kitchen and bath remodel and install 1000 sq, feet of floor tile in an 1850 sq, ft. house. Is his fee of ($12,300) in line?

This year (2008), the general contractor building our home in Los Angeles, CA is on a fixed fee of 10% of the estimated project cost, plus $75 per hour for any additional work due to major change requests. That hourly rate is probably high for non-costal cities.  more
