Since you have a background in clinical laboratory science with the military, you might be able to find work as a medical laboratory technician (uncertified?). Generally, medical laboratory technicians (MLTs) need an associate's degree in medical laboratory technology and a nationally recognized MLT certification (usually through ASCP or NCA). Some institutions may sort of "grandfather" you into the position if you have either a bachelor's degree or military experience. This is really left up to whichever hospital, laboratory, or clinic you pursue. To get into a medical technologist (MT) position (also known as a medical laboratory scientist) you would need at least a BS degree in medical/clinical laboratory science or one of the biological sciences and the MT (ASCP) certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
