Its not easy to quantify the earnings of Practicing Cost Accountant. This depends on their seniority, experience and area in which they practice apart from their individual skills. Appears that remuneration in the job is more than in practice. Suggest you take a job in a good company i.e where cost accounting system is in place or company intends to set up one if not existing. After getting few years(5+) experience you can enter practice if you want. Independence is the biggest advantage of practice but then there are other sacrifices like uncertainty and lesser remuneration to be made. But you will have to keep your urge of practice very strong even after 5 yrs as at that time you would have very good salary. Initially the income from practice may be less than that. It all depends on what you want to do as professional.
