Ask your local troop what they charge and what that amount includes. At a minimum, it will include the B.S.A. registration and insurance fee of $8.50 per year. A troop might also charge an additional amount to cover a subscription to Boys’ Life magazine, a Boy Scout Handbook, troop T-shirt or cap, etc. None of this money is used to pay the Scoutmaster or other troop adults. These people generously volunteer their time to work with your son and the other boys.
