I can’t say for certain, but I think most herp/reptile vets prefer to do spay while they are gravid, but that is something you would have to ask your vet for sure. Females can become gravid during breeding season time, but the eggs will not be fertile. If your female does NOT have problems during breeding season and is able to lay the eggs, I personally would not spay. But it is your choice in the end if you do or don’t. Know some vets recommend spaying male and female iguanas. I do not live in Georgia, I live in the Pacific/Mountain time zone area, it ruffly costed me $700 for my girl to get spayed. This wasn’t including the 3 X-Rays or needing to travel to a different vet because my vet said she was reabsorbing when actually she had ruptured eggs. So I had to have my female spayed due to not laying eggs naturally, and the ruptured eggs. You would have to call your herp/reptile vet and find out how much they would charge to do this.
