You want to watch it and check your alarm company contracts carefully. If it is a monitored alarm that links through to a control room and calls the company if the alarm goes off, be extremely careful. I used to be in the security industry and knew someone who installed an ADT alarm and it cost them around $175 a week…..just in phone calls. The alarm was dialling in to the company every 10-15 minutes to check in and make sure the line was working, and each time it was costing them a local phone call, 4-5 times an hour, every hour of every day whether the alarm was armed or not. They did not find out for 3 months when their phone bill arrived and it cost them a fortune. So just check how it is set up very carefully before you commit. You can get a lot of DIY alarms that don’t cost as much and work better.
