How much does three month car licencing cost in New Zealand?

Hi. You say that you will need to relicense the car and get a warrant. Does this mean that the car is currently off the road with no warrant and no current licence? Or is it that both will expire during your trip? If the car is currently unlicensed, and the current owner has not applied for an exemption, or the exemption has lapsed, then you will be asked to pay the outstanding licence fees as well as the three months for which you wish to use the car. I am presuming the car is currently registered so I won’t go into that aspect. From the link below you will see that a 3 months licence costs around NZ$67. The warrant will have to be obtained before the relicensing as you will not be issued with a licence without a current warrant. The warrant costs around NZ$45 and will be good for 6 months. Hopefully, the car will pass its warrant check – otherwise who knows what the cost will be for repairs 🙁 Most insurance companies don’t like insuring tourists and those that do load the premiums
