Each first year resident (R-1) has one or two months of elective time. Electives can be chosen in any subspecialty area. Commonly selected electives include: anesthesiology, cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, nephrology, research, quality improvement (GI) and rheumatology.
