How Much Heat does a Light Bulb Give Off?
To be energy efficient, it’s important to know how much heat a light bulb will give off while it is on. Halogen and incandescent (traditional) light bulbs give off 90% of their energy in the form of heat since they produce light by heating the filament inside the bulb. To lose less energy in heat, use less wattage. Or, use fluorescent light bulbs or compact fluorescent bulbs that lose only 30% of energy as heat.
