How much horsepower does a 1972, 402ci chevy engine make?
1972 was one of the first year of the gas crisis of the 70s and all cars seen a big loss in horse power as the law mandated that cars needed to get better gas mileage stating in 1971, and 1971 cars had less horse power but not nearly as much as 1972. as the 1970 402cid had 345hp to 350hp stock 1971 402cid all had 300hp stock 1972 402cid had just 210hp to 240hp stock but as you said you rebuilt this and bored it .030 over one you now have a 406cid or just short of 407cid and the new carb and the exhaust i would guess you in the 300hp range, it would help to know if the cam was changed and if you have a new intake, and just so you know there still allot of power you can get out of this with just a few more up grades and with out having to take the motor out or apart again.
