Well, it really depends on where you want to live and in what sort of an apartment you want to live. If you want to live in Manhattan, you can plan on about $1200 or more for a studio apartment. One bedrooms will go for about $1500 or more. Two bedrooms, easily $2000. So, it is not cheap. However, if you are willing to live in the outer boroughs of Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Staten Island, you will likely pay less. In the “nicer” neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens you will pay less than $1000 for a studio and if you want to share an apartment with others, you can often find a place where you can pay $700-ish for your room. These are all approximations, and of course there are plenty of people out there paying a lot more or a lot less than what is mentioned here.
