How much milk should a week old baby drink?
If you’re breastfeeding, offer the breast every time baby wakes up. Allow baby to nurse until he unlatches on his own, then offer the other side. If he refuses, then try to remember to start the feeding on the “full” side next time. Sorry that it’s not a scientific answer, but our breasts do not come with little gauges to tell us how many ounces our babies took, right? Counting ounces is something that has happened only since bottlefeeding came to be. Before then, mothers were told to just nurse the baby and everything would be fine. That’s still the best advice there is!
