6.8 SPC is very efficient in short barrels. In fact, about 98% of the possible velocity for any 6.8 SPC load is from a 16″ barrel. The 18″ barrel only gets about 50 feet per second more than the 16″. The 20″ barrel gets about 50 to 70 feet per second more velocity than the 18″ barrel. These figures depend on the specific load being fired.
