How much should I charge to design the centerpieces for a wedding reception?
Good day Purple Flower, this is a tough question. Firstly, you must decide whether you are you trying to do this professionally, or as a favor. In either case, consider these factors – 1. The cost of the material. You may not want to “mark this up” and just make money on your labor. 2. Remember the old adage, time is money. Consider the time spent with your client, and the time to construct the centerpiece. Unless you have been doing this for a while (I have for 17 years), allow more time that what you think is needed! 3. Will you be adding balloons? Again there is a cost factor, the balloons, helium, ribbon, time to inflate, arrange, place. And, the price of Helium has tripled recently due to a pipeline failure. 4. Will you be delivering the party centerpieces? Then your travel time and some allowance for automobile expense must be added. 5. When you add it up al the time, ask yourself: “What is my time worth?” Translate to an hourly figure and add your raw costs, including delivery.
