How much waste grease is available?
Recycled grease is one of the cheapest, and best feedstock available. Each year the US produces about 3 billion gallons of grease that end up in landfills and sewers. If collected, the US could displace 5% of petroleum diesel use without planting any new crops. This may sound like a drop in the bucket, but its more than 10 times the amount of biodiesel sold in the US in 2006. Until this grease has been accounted for, it doesnt make sense to use anything else to make biodiesel.
