How much water has South Gippsland Water applied for?

0

The application proposes an extraction cap of 1.8 billion litres in any year (1 July to 30 June). South Gippsland Water will not extract more that this volume under the proposed entitlement amendment in any year. In some years South Gippsland Water’s extraction will be less than the capped volume. This is because other conditions governing when South Gippsland Water can take water will limit extractions. For example, a minimum flow rate will be required to be passed before any extraction can occur. These minimum flow rates will be informed by a study of the environmental flow requirements of the river. South Gippsland Water proposes to comply with the results of the study. South Gippsland Water’s offtake has the capacity to take 10 million litres per day and there are no plans to increase this capacity.
