How much will the Wakota project cost?
The Wakota Project includes several projects in addition to I-494 bridge. The cost for the entire project was originally estimated at $250M; however, with the design issues on the river bridge and the resulting delays, the final project cost is expected to be about $300M. Funding for the project is coming from federal, state, county, and city resources. Funding is also being used from Federal Railroad Safety programs, State and Regional Enhancement grants, and state bond sales authorized by the state legislature in 2001.
