How much would it cost to build my own amusement park ride?
I searched on Wikipedia for a similar ride, Maelstrom in Drayton Manor. That ride cost £1,000,000, which is actually cheaper than I thought it would be. Any half decent roller coaster is likely to cost more than £5m, with the larger ones usually coming in at £10 – 30m. I’m not sure about other thrill rides. The most expensive ride ever built was Expedition Everest, at $100,000,000, although most of it was spent on theming. The most expensive roller coaster, not including theming, was Steel Dragon 2000, at $50,000,000. The best back yard ride I’ve ever seen on youtube is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfsteApcv… If you wanted thrills from your back garden, in might be better to buy a zip wire, or build a slip’n’slide down from your roof with chip board and tarpaulin. I don’t advise doing either without considering safety though.
