Breeders look for the easiest way to mass produce rabbits, which means feeding commercially manufactured yuck instead of fresh, wholesome, species appropriate foods that are best. 4) 1 to 1 1/2 cups of salad greens per 6 pounds of body weight per day. First, don’t believe all of the bull that some people tell you about only feeding a small amount of pellets and giving fresh greens because they claim they are more nutritious and all of that. Look at their credentials. Take BunnyMom for example. She raises 7 rabbits and considers herself an expert. I have raised thousands of rabbits over 25 years, won numerous Best in Shows, studied animal nutrition in college, and have read several books and various articles on rabbit nutrition, and personally knew Doc Reed who was considered one of the best authorities in rabbit nutrition by many rabbit breeders that show rabbits. The best way to feed your rabbit partially will depend on the temperature, whether your rabbit is still growing, and whether your rabbit is milking. I primarily stick to just pellets and water.
