How often do snakes eat people?
There are allegations that people have been eaten by the green anaconda but no confirmed cases. Nevertheless, no doubt some people may have fallen victim to this species but no one was there to witness it, given the remoteness of the South American jungles. So, some anacondas may have gotten away with murder. There are a few known cases of reticulated pythons killing humans, so it is extremely rare. One herpetologist, however, has also reported being strangled by a captive python and almost died. Make no mistake, these large snakes are dangerous and fully capable of killing an adult human being.
