The subways run 24 hours a day, and every 3 to 4 minutes during rush hour. Click www.mta.info for subway maps and information. It's good idea to buy a 30-day metro card. A one-day pass costs $7, while a 30-day unlimited pass costs $76. Even if you're only staying a few days, to save money, use a credit card to purchase a 30-day metro card. After your trip to New York is done, call the number on the back of the metro card to get a prorated refund on the unused portion. This will reduce your daily subway costs to $2.50 (instead of $7).
