Is it worthwhile? That's up to you. I also have a "Native American ancestor" story in my genealogy tree. I have been searching for almost ten years without proving anything. Does it keep me from looking? No, like many others, I like the genealogical challenge. I still wear the ring my mother wore to honor her Native American heritage. While I may never prove the connection that has been our family tradition, I have learned much by my search. I have learned about Native American culture, history, and stories that have enriched my life. More than anything, my experience helps me appreciate the difficulty that others face in their search. If you want to know more about what is available for Native American research at the library, check the genealogy research guide on our website. Good luck!
