How often should I clean the USB fingerprint capture device?
The platen/prism surface were designed to provide quality images, regardless of the build-up of oils, dirt and dust that naturally occur from regular use. However, to obtain the best images, it is important to clean the platen as often as possible. Regular cleaning should be scheduled once or more a month (inspection, cleaning and maintenance will vary, depending on environment and nature of use) and be completed as described in the Operator’s or User’s manual. The silicone membranes on the finger platen should be changed regularly. Signs that the silicone membrane needs to be changed could be Air bubbles, Inability to remove streaks from the membrane and tearing.
