How often should I let my bird out of its cage?

There’s no golden rule about how much time each species should be let out of its cage. Rather, the rule is this: let them out as often as you possibly can. I’d say a minimum of 1 hour a day is ideal.

I personally let my birds out of their bird cages whenever I’m in the house and can watch them. I won’t let them out when I’m sleeping or busy doing something like cooking as I know I can’t keep an eye on them, but if I’m just hanging around and watching TV, I’ll open up their cages.

Of course, it also depends on how big your cage is and the type of bird. Different birds have different needs. The more intelligent and sociable birds tend to need to be exercised and allowed to fly around more often.

If you have a bird cage that is big enough to provide ample room for your bird to hop and fly around, they probably don’t need to be let out as much as they would otherwise. This website can help you to find a bird cage that’s right for your bird
