How old was Toshiro when he became captain of his squad?
As a child in the Rukongai district of the Soul Society, Hitsugaya lived with his grandmother and Momo. When Momo Hinamori leaves for the Soul Reaper academy, Toshiro becomes quite furious, and it is shown that he has always had an icy demeanor. Eventually he dreams of an icy plain, and Rangiku Matsumoto tells him that he must train to be a Soul Reaper, despite his young age, because his obvious connections with the power of ice are slowly freezing his grandmother.
