How quickly can I return to work or normal activity?
Gastric band patients usually return to work within 4-7 days while those undergoing a sleeve gastrectomy tend to take longer to recover, but usually feel well enough to return to work 1.5-2 weeks post-op. Patients are encouraged to begin walking as soon as they feel well enough, but shouldn’t lift anything greater than 8 lbs for the first six weeks. They may begin light weight bearing exercises once they are six weeks post-op.
