Plant sterols are safe they occur naturally in the diet. To achieve a substantial reduction in cholesterol we have increased the daily intake of plant sterols by around five times. This daily level of plant sterol intake is safe. Flora pro-activ has not only passed Unilevers stringent internal safety review process but has also been reviewed by independent experts. It has obtained GRAS (General Recognised as Safe) status by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in the USA, and has been approved by regulatory authorities in Europe, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil. Flora pro-activ has also been reviewed and approved as safe and effective by the South African Department of Health: Directorate of Food Control.  more
