How should soiled products be disposed of?

Used products should be rolled up to contain any materials and odors. Closure tabs can be used to secure the product. If care is being provided by someone other than the product wearer, gloves used for protection can be pulled inside out over the rolled, soiled product. Disposal is detailed on the Continence Management Video. Please note that urine is usually odorless until it comes in contact with air. The odor of feces is unavoidable. A plastic bag may also be used to minimize odors for any used incontinence products. Incontinence Products should never be flushed in a toilet. The use of a covered trash container or sealed plastic bag will be necessary. A Disposal System such as the Playtex Diaper Genie XL may be helpful.
