How soon do they take out surgical staples?
The skin incision is pretty well knit by the third day and after cesarean sections they remove the staples on day three. Depending on the procedure, weight of the person and general physical health of the patient they can be left in longer. Someone who in heavy is going to put more stress on an abdominal wound than someone lean. If the incision looks pretty well approximated, clean , and dry then that’s good. The insertion points of the stapels may look a bit reddened. As the wound heals it pulls a bit putting tension on the stapels so it is normal if they look a tad irritated. So tomorrow they most likely will remove them. They use a stapel remover ( of all things….). it really does not hurt, maybe just a little sting. Most patients are pleasantly surprised. Some physicians will apply steri strips, others will leave it open. If they put steri strips on they should only stay on for a few more days and when they start to curl up, like after a show, then go ahead and remove them the re
