How strong is the strongest permanent magnet made? Also how is it measured?
The strongest permanent magnet science is classified. Permanent magnets are a big project on the ISS involving spin and fermi wave formations in reduced gravitational fields to produce powerful magnets. And, that rather oddly timed and peculiar Gravity Probe B space experiment back in ’04 or ’05 to test Einstein’s general theory of relativity produced GOBS of data, partly related to frame dragging, or the amount of local space time that the Earth drags around with it as it rotates. Supposedly, revelations from that experiment broke through like light-years ahead in magnet science, also classified. Also, the space elevator projects, like Lift Port’s, and the obstacles they face in the nanotube carbon tether construction also has recently produced some new science related to super powerful permanent magnets that remain in the public domain but highly guarded corporate type secrets.
