First make the fractions to be added to have the same denominatoer. Adding improper fractions with similar denominators is easy. Simply add the numeratoer and retain the denominator….say 11/7 + 12/7 = 23/7. For dissimilar denominator, you have to find the least common factor for the 2 denominators to make them similar. This is little tricky compared to the other. Lets have 4/3 + 7/5 as example here. You have to look for the LCD… look for a number that can divide for 3 and five and that number must be the smallest possible. Say 15… convert the two fractions to make both the denominator 15. To convert 4/3 to have a 15 denom, divide 15 by 3 and multiply by 4 to get the numerator which is 20. Now, the new fraction is 20/15 for 4/3. Convert the other addend which is 7/5. DO similar procedure. Divide 15 by 5 and multiply by 7. This will give us the second fraction’s numerator which is 21. You have 21/15 now. Now there is a common denominator which is 15. Now you can perform the additio
