Sometimes, it can be very hard to find a frame to fit that piece of odd-sized art created by your budding kindergarten artist! Making your own isn’t that hard. You can use almost any thin, straight piece of wood to make your frame. Cut the wood into four pieces, two for the top and bottom and two for the sides. Each piece should be the length or width of the piece being framed plus twice the width of the piece of wood to allow for mitered corners. Use a mitre box and a hand saw to cut the end of each piece to a 45-degree angle. Arrange the pieces of wood with the back side up to form the frame, and use wood glue and clamps to join the four pieces at the corners. For extra strength, you can also use V nails on each corner. Once the wood glue is dry, lay the item to be framed on the back of the frame, cover it with cardboard and tape around the edge of the cardboard with masking tape to hold the picture in place.
