The service engine light is merely the 5,000 – mile reminder to change your oil. With the ignition switch on – you do not need to start the vehicle – press your odometer button until the total mileage is displayed (not the Trip A or B). Turn the ignition back off. Now press and hold the odometer button while turning the ignition switch back on. The display will show all dashes and then remove them one at a time. Once this “countdown” is complete, the total mileage will be displayed again and your service indicator will be reset.
