Most cable places are providing Universal remotes, so all you have to do is program the remote to work with all of your different components… There are instructions on how to synch your remote to your components in the little manual your cable company provided (or, check their website for info…). Some require you just push a few buttons and allow the remote to find the codes automatically, and others require you to get the code and manually enter it into the remote. Otherwise, it doesnt really matter how you have everything set up, as the remote is going to control it overall… I have an HDTV, a DVD/VHS combo player, an Xbox 360, a Wii and a PS2 and a cable box all on one tv. I have the DVD/VHS running through the cable box – once the power is turned on to the player, it automatically switches to the player. I have the Xbox hooked to the YPbPr slot, the PS2 on the SVideo slot, the Wii on the AV3 slot…and I can change the input on the TV with the cable remote!!
