The best way is too start small and work your way up. Use common sense to figure out which one you should go to next. When you feel like you just honestly can't go on anything bigger (e.g. Kingda Ka), quit for a bit. Then see if you want to work your way up more later. Or, you could just head straight to Kingda Ka and force yourself, or have someone force you on it. That would definately get you over your fear. For example, my mom never rode anything and was absolutely terrified until I forced her on the Beast at Kings Island (World's longest wooden roller coaster) and now she rides most, if not all, coasters. You have a better chance of dying on your sofa than on a ride. You have a better of dying in the parking lot than on a ride. The park spends hours of work testing the rides in the morning and making sure every single part is completely safe. I hope this helps you with your fear! Have a great time and don't get scared! Don't think about it in line.  more

I suffered from a horrible fear of roller coasters after riding on one as a kid when I was not ready. That said, I am now an avid coaster fan, having ridden multiple times the most terrifying roller coaster ever invented: "X" at Six Flags' Magic Mountain.

The key is to identify what part of roller coasters frieghten you. Is it the speed? What about the lack of control? Perhaps it's the height, or the sensation of falling.

After you identify your specific fear spend some time thinking about it. Decide whether or not it is something legitimately worthy of fear within the context of a expertly-engineered roller coaster.

When it comes time to hop on the ride think back to your previous time in thought on this subject. This will transfer an emotional barrier to a logical process. It is likely you will find that a dose of reason and demolish an irrational fear.
