How to create and use compressed tar files?
At first, the “gtar” command should be preferred instead of the “tar” command because it avoids tar limitations as the maximum path length for instance. Further, you should prefer relative paths because they are more flexible in use. The “z” flag is the option for the compression. Take care that the “f” option must be the last written option because it needs to be followed by the file name as parameter.
