There is no such property as “rate of concentration” as you have written. What you can determine is the rate of reaction in relation to concentration of the acid. You must do a number of different tests to determine this relationship. Also clarify that 4% HCl means 4 grams HCl in 100 grams of solution, (approx adding 96 grams of water. First thing to do is to make up a few, maybe 4 HCl solutions at different concentrations. Say for example, 2%, 4% 8% and 15%. Now measure exactly 10ml of each solution into seperate test tubes. Into each test tube add the same mass of magnesium ribbon. Now time each test tube to measure time taken to dissolve the ribbon. You may get a table like this: Conc.
