They often get galleys (not exactly ARCs but often the same thing). 2) Get a freelance job with a review journal or web site. If you haven’t done any reviewing professionally, this may take some doing, but there are lots of review sites out there, lots of opportunity. 3) Start your own book review blog. Try to focus on one genre of book. Write thoughtful reviews of books you’ve already read. When you have ten or so up, start requesting ARCs from publishers.
