I agree that BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) is the easiest and cheapest way to get to Richmond from San Francisco International Airport (SFO), but nobody has quite explained the system fully. There is no direct train from SFO to Richmond. Here’s the complete procedure, assuming you start from one of the international terminals. 1) It’s a short walk from the international terminal to the free “Air Train” shuttle (light rail). You want to take the train to the BART station, which is located in the parking garage near international terminal G. Either line (red or blue) will get you there, but it’s a bit faster if you do the following: If you start from terminal G, take the blue line and get off at the first stop. If you start from terminal A, take the red line and get off at the second stop.
