How to get job in data science if you are trying to get into this field into your 40s

I have earlier done medical transcription for last 17 years. Due to career saturation point, I started to learn data science for the last six months and now know a lot about descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics using machine learning. But, I am unable to find a job as everyone looking for a minimum of 3 years experience in this field. How to proceed further?
